Seagate Fined $300 Million for Violating U.S. Export Controls
Seagate Technology, a renowned storage company, has been fined a record $300 million by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) for breaching export control regulations. The fine, the largest standalone penalty in BIS history, comes after Seagate admitted to illicitly shipping 7.4 million hard drives to Huawei between 2020 and 2021, despite U.S. government restrictions against the Chinese firm.
